Privacy policy

Updated 5 November 2026

This policy describes how the independent Launch project handles information through its Windows desktop application and this website. For privacy questions, account information or deletion requests, contact contact@pleiades.org.uk.

Your local library

Launch can work without an account. It reads game installation records and files on your PC to identify installed games. Library entries, installation locations, executable targets, favorites, collections, artwork choices and play sessions are saved locally. Installation paths and executable targets are not included in Launch's cloud sync.

Launch checks running processes to identify sessions for games in your library while the application is open. It records game-session times and duration. Local application data remains on your PC until you remove it.

Optional Launch accounts

If you sign in, Launch uses SpacetimeAuth for authentication and SpacetimeDB Maincloud for account features. Cloud records can include your account identity, profile handle, display name, device name and presence, account connections, friendships and shared collections.

When you enable synchronization, Launch uploads supported preferences, favorites, collections, selected artwork references and Launch-recorded sessions. Your library and currently playing game are shared with other users according to your sharing settings and collection memberships. Profile information is visible where needed for friend requests and shared collections.

Epic Games connections

Connecting Epic Games opens Epic's sign-in page in your system browser. Epic handles your password and authentication. Launch's server exchanges the one-time authorization code, verifies the Epic account and saves its account ID, display name and connection date against your Launch account.

The connection requests basic-profile access. Launch does not store your Epic password, retain an Epic refresh token, import your complete Epic library or read Epic achievement progress through this connection. Temporary access tokens are used only during verification and revocation is attempted after verification. The application secret is held server-side and is not sent to the desktop app.

Disconnecting Epic removes the saved account link from Launch's server. You can also manage application access in your Epic account settings. Epic's privacy policy explains its own handling of your information.

Other services and credentials

Steam linking saves your verified SteamID and connection date. Optional Steam data requests use a separately configured Web API key and are limited by Steam's privacy settings. Retrieved account and achievement information is cached locally. Steam and SteamGridDB API keys, and the desktop application's saved Launch sign-in credentials, are stored using Windows Credential Manager.

Launch requests game information and artwork from services such as Steam and SteamGridDB. Opening embedded storefronts creates separate WebView2 browser profiles, which may retain that store's cookies and sign-in session on your PC. Requests to these providers disclose normal connection information such as your IP address; their own privacy policies apply.

This website

This static website is hosted by Vercel. It does not contain a Launch account sign-in form, advertising or added analytics scripts. Your browser can store a light or dark theme preference locally. Vercel may process request information, including IP addresses and technical logs, to deliver and secure the website. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Retention and your choices

You can use the local library without signing in, choose whether to enable sync, change sharing settings and disconnect supported platform accounts. Signing out stops use of your Launch account in the desktop app but does not by itself delete cloud records or cached files.

Cloud account and sync records are retained until removed through available controls or an account-data deletion request. Local caches and backups may remain on your devices until you remove them. Service providers may retain their own operational logs and backups under their policies.

To request access, correction or deletion of Launch account information, email contact@pleiades.org.uk. Include your Launch handle and the request; do not send passwords, API keys or sign-in codes. We may need to verify control of the account before acting.

Policy changes
